Maite Jauregui: My name is Maite, married and mother of two sons. I grew up in Venezuela with a Dutch mother. Me, and my family have been living in the Netherlands for 6 years. I moved to the Netherlands during my first pregnancy. Even though I was raised knowing a lot about Dutch culture and traditions, beingpregnant, made me realize that Dutch birth care is very different than birth care in Venezuela, and I felt the need for more information.

Nahidu Becker: I am Nahidu, midwife! I started studying obstetrics in Amsterdam in 2019. I had the opportunity to do internships at many different practices throughout the Netherlands. However, I noticedduring the consultations that there is not enough time to explain in detail birth and birth control to women who are not familiar with the Dutch system . I think it is important that women receive the necessaryattention and information that will help them to be more confident and comfortable during this important experience in their lives.

Together, we came up with the idea of setting up the Online Birth Advice course. Both from different perspectives. We complement each other well because we can combine our knowledge and experience.
